The business of photography can be a challenging one. As an art form, photography demands that the photographer apply a creatively discriminating eye to their subject matter to communicate through an image that which writers communicate with the written word. As a business, photography is expected to find the right combination of subject, action and light to make the world stand still and clients take notice. This combination needs to occur within the framework of the given assignment no matter how exhilarating or commonplace. The challenge always lies in bringing a sense of the personal to every photographic opportunity. Tom Brahl brings to his clients two decades of experience, shooting a wide variety of assignments from award winning news coverage to concisely edited annual reports. He enjoys the challenge of a continually growing and evolving client base that always presents the opportunity to stretch his ability to see the world in a more personal way, while expressing a sense of appreciation to both client and subject. After twenty years, Tom is looking at new ways of working with his
craft by introducing digital technology to not only create but market
his images. Huge stock files can now be reduced to gigabytes of information
for the appreciation of the general public, and digital darkrooms are
creating a whole new sense of freedom and excitement by making old images
new again. He is using the knowledge gained as a darkroom technician
in the seventies and applying it to the pixels and jpegs of the new
millennium. |
